SYML

SYML is the solo venture of artist Brian Fennell. Welsh for “simple”—he makes music that taps into the instincts that drive us to places of sanctuary, whether that be a place or a person.

Born and raised in Seattle, Fennell studied piano and became a self-taught producer, programmer, and guitarist. His first release, the self-titled debut album in 2019, included the multi- platinum song “Where’s My Love” and the Gold Single fan favorite “Girl.“ His 2023 sophomore album, The Day My Father Died, described by NPR as “euphoric,” was recorded at Studio X in Seattle with fellow Seattleite and renowned producer Phil Ek. The album features collaborations with Elbow’s Guy Garvey, Lucius, Sara Watkins of Nickel Creek, and Charlotte Lawrence.

SYML is also known for his collaborations across genres, including a feature on Lana Del Rey’s song “Paris, TX,” from her Grammy-nominated album Did You Know That There’s A Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd, and contributions to songs by the UK-electronic artist George Fitzgerald and Colombian artist Elsa Y Elmar.

His work has become the soundtrack to countless films and TV shows, including his haunting cover of „Mr Sandman“ in Behind Her Eyes and „Where’s My Love,“ in everything from Maxton Hall to its first use in the cult drama Teen Wolf, which propelled it to chart on Billboard for over twenty weeks. In 2024, SYML launched the imprint, FIN. Recordings, a collaboration with his label, Nettwerk Music Group , and management Good Harbor Music and will release his third-full length album in 2025.
